Hello, I have had this laser guided mouse for around 2+ years. I never remember having a problem with it untill I re built my system and a fresh version of XP pro this past January. Here are the two probs The mouse pointer on the screen will wander slowly when my hand is off the mouse. The other prob (most annoying) is when I will be using the mouse and all of a sudden the pointer on screen will jump across to the very top or across the screen often to a corner. Any one have any tips or suggestions? Thanks for the help.

Hey Matt- it is a Compaq 5187-2150 PS/2 Optical Mouse
Not sure what the PS 2 stands for?

PS/2 is the type of plug. It was replaced in large by USB.

If it's optical, make sure there's no hair's in the lens - this causes many jumping issues.

Well it was a little dirty so hopefully that did the trick. Ahhh right, PS 2 is the connection- it slipped my mind And as I write this the mouse is wandering once again heheh. Oh well looks like ill start shopping for a new one. Any opinions? A mate has a wireless setup, and needs recharging often which might get annoying. He got it with his logitech gaming keyboard and he keeps telling me of his proper setup
