Default [Answered] Jumpy mouse

I recently bought a new mouse becuase the previous year old mouse had been jumping more and more over time. Jumping as in the mouse pointer will suddenly flick to another place on the screen, most of the time the corner. This makes it really hard to play games. The new mouse has the same problem, plugged in the ps/2 slot and the usb slot. I have tried replacing the mousemat. I have also tried plugging the mouse into different usb ports and the problem still occurs. the new mouse is a pilot wired logitech mouse.

any suggestions or advice to stop the wouse jumping would be much appreciated.

thanks, jake

I've seen this happen when your mouse thinks it is on a reflective service. try using a mouse pad if you are not or a piece of paper/cardboard that doesn't reflect and see if that works. I've seen sunlight and bright room lights freak out a mouse as well.

ah, I hadn't seen that, thanks. Both mouses I have tried are optical. I am now using another mousemat that is just one colour not mixed like the previous two were. It hasn't jumped yet, hopefully it won't again.

thanks, jake
