Okay here's what my PC is doing right now: When I boot up, desktop, taskbar, nor start menu show up. An error also pops up saying 'explorer.exe no disk'. I'm only occasionally able to access the internet so I'm using another PC to search for help. I've done a hijack and will post that below.
Now, what I did to get the above problem:
A few days ago I was downloading files from limewire, and usually my virus program (Trend Micro Security Suite 2008) will block anything with viruses on it. All of a sudden I was getting Windows Security and Spyware blocker 2008 popping up all the time. After removing it several times I went to the internet and found out once you download it (I guess I did) it will add infected files to your system and you need a malware remover to remove it, the site I was on recommended Malware Bytes. So I downloaded the Malware Bytes, but my PC won't run it. I've tried manually deleting each file associated with spyware guard and I think I've deleted something I needed. I did have xp SP3 but I tried repairing (to reinstall anything I deleted) and now I have SP2 (from my disk). I've done virus scans both in safe mode and normal, and it says it clears viruses. In safe mode, all the time, it asks me if I want to do a system restore, which I've tried to do and my PC either times out or just won't do it (same as running Malware Bytes). Back to safe mode and system restore, whether I click yes to stay in safe mode, or no to do a system restore, about 30 seconds later the same screen comes up, therefore making me start over in my task at hand in safe mode. In safe mode also my desktop, start menu, etc doesn't show up. In both modes I have to do the ctrl/alt/del and new task. I can't remember what, but sometimes my PC says I don't have administrator rights to do whatever I was trying to do, even though I'm logged in as admin. I can't do windows update, whenever I am able to access the internet, and actually make it to the update area, it says there's an error on the website. I've also downloaded Easycleaner that was recommended on another site (thinking my registry is messed up) but that won't run either. Another thing I downloaded was JV tools (can't remember name). That fixed over 600 registry errors, but am still having problems with desktop/start menu/taskbar. I think (not positive) that I successfully removed spywareguard during a file scan with the jv tools, as it's not popping up anymore, but then again I'm not even able to fully get logged in. The only thing that shows up is my background pic. Oh also, when I go to ctrl/alt/del and do new task, if I manually go to the explorer.exe, it still comes up 'no disk'
