Default Hijack log
Have run spybot and adaware in safe mode and getting one last set of pop ups.
System is XP, Dell

Would not mind getting rid of all of the annoying Dell stuff but not necessary. One last set of pop ups is driving me crazy.

only one think sticks out in that log, so run hjt again, click scan only, and tick the following and click 'fix checked':

Thanks just the one set of pop ups. One of them says "trx66.ibann.com" in the header if that helps at all. I am at work but will run Hijack when I get home and get rid of that .dll.

I had McAfee but it made the system a slug and did not seem to work very well. I cleaned it off and was going to try Avast.

Any comments on Avast or other recommendations?

avast is fine; mcaffee and norton are both notorious resource hogs. I use, and have used, AVG a/v and antispyware for a few years now, it's never let me down. I also use zone alarm firewall, and that helps a LOT right there. Plus I run firefox; my wife still runs IE. I scan my machine about 4 times a year, all it ever finds is cookies, I scan my wife monthly due to her using IE, and we've had some infestations on her rig.....

bottom line, find one that you like, and go with it. There's enough freeware, solid apps out there that will get the job done and do it solidly so that you don't have to pay for mcaffee or norton.

Which just bog down the system anyhow. IMO, of course.
