I have 2 PCs on a network that are so slow they are not usable. Both are in the same office.
I have norton 360 on all 10 PCs but these 2 have gotten hijackers hotbar, ibis, huntbar

1.First the powersupply went on this computer, so i put the harddrive in an identical computer. I cleaned them with spysweeper, spybot and avg adaware, and reinstalled norton.
I now can get a very slow internet connection, but still with problems. Norton will not update.

2. I can only login in safe mode under the local computer, not the network.
I have cleaned it in safe mode with AVG and spybot, but cant get updates in safe mode. adaware gives me the message that it cant install" due to a system policy. I am logged in as the admin for local. No admin login works it hangs for a few hours.
any suggestions on how to troubleshoot these? I cleaned it in safe mode with spysweeper, it now is clean according to the scan. I uninstalled norton.

Ok first computer was fixed when I changed the power supply and put the hard drive back in the original case.
These are dell dimensions 4400 and it requires a special dell power supply that I had to order.
Everything is working fine now. I had 2 power supplys go in the last 2 weeks ...do you think this second computer could be showing signs of a power supply on its way out????

The Second computer I can barely get into
Spysweeper gave me an error in install [in safe mode] when I tried to run it. It is also automatically going to the internet to check for updates and that is slowing down the computer for about an hour while it tries to load the page.
Any advice on getting into this computer to do work

Oh and I loaded hijackthis but I cant get into it because in safe mode the screen is to big to see the check for accept the agreement????!!!
It also runs great in safe mode, but not in safe mode with networking
help!

oh and nero 7 essentials loaded its search bar on the bottom of the screen and I dont know how to remove this. It will not uninstall in safe mode! I cant find it in the processors list either...

Use a combination of the tab and spacebar to first check the box and then tab again to the OK button

that worked ..I will copy the log and post it to the hijack this forum.
I tried to install CA anti-spy ware and it uninstalled my spy sweeper...then it gave me an installation failure message, and so did AVG. I quess you cant install in safe mode
