Yes...I'm afraid so.

There's no let up in the frequency or anything :-(

I did notice that, further down the log, there was a line that said something like - Unknown file in winsock - Could this be the little swine that's causing my problems?
I didn't want th chance it and just remove it as, knowing my luck / lack of expertise, I'd get rid of the thing that causes the screen to display a picture!

Thanks,

WIO

That should not be causing that particular error. Many systems have that exact line with no errors at all. There is a tool we can use to look deeper at it but I want to make sure you have no infections before we touch the winsock.

You will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan.
Disable your antivirus program and go here to run bitdefender[/color].com/scan8/ie.html]BitDefender Online Scan.
Click on I Agree.
Avoid clicking on other links as you don't need to try out the full install at this point, just the online scanner.

When the ActiveX Control has loaded, click on "Click here to scan".
Please be patient, as this scan may take a few hours. It all depends on the number of files on your computer.

NOTE: If you are running XP SP2, you may need to click on the Information Bar to allow the ActiveX to install and may need to repeat the BitDefender Online Scan.

When BitDefender completes the scan, select the "Detected Problems" tab.
Click on "Click here to export scan".
Save the file as an HTML to your Desktop.
Then click on the saved file and allow it to open with your browser.
Go to Edit - Select All then copy/paste that log back here.
Post the BitDefender log.

OK...Thanks

I have another thread open atm that is discussing if my HD is on it's final legs because it keeps reunning disk checks and giving bad clusters errors.
I need to back up data from it then run another scan to see if we can tell what's going on...so, not wanting towaste your time, I'll get that done and see where we go from there...it may mean that I need a new HD or a reformat which would probably solve this problem.

I will keep you updated. Many thanks for your help so far...not looking forward to finding out if the HD is falling over. :-(

Take care,

WIO
