Exclamation New PC Choices??

Hi PCHF,

My computer is running quite slowly and i can safely say its on its final lap and that the time has come to get a new one.

I was wondering if you knew any good value, higher performance PC's.

I was also wandering if the following is a decent choice and whether the difference between Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate is great: PC World - Shop for cheap PCs - PACKARD BELL iMEDIA 2414 PACKARD BELL 2414 + 20" WIDESCREEN TFT MONITOR

I would like the PC to function both for work and games (although the latter does not need to be top end i.e Best Graphics Card)

The price range that i am looking for is around £500.

Thank You for your time

Hey looks fine.

I would go for Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

What difference would the upgrade do?

Well I have tried home basic and I now run Vista Ultimate.

There are diffrences in appearance and game play.

Home basic is that basic ,you mite as well run XP if your choice is basic..

Her have a read of what are the diffrences.

Windows Vista: Home Page

Vista 64 bit would reconise more RAM/Memory if you decide to put more in.32 bit only reconises 3.25 RAM/Memory.

Quad core is better if your a gamer. How to explain dual and quad is pritty simple I would say 1 core would be running a game,2nd core lets say IE and 3rd core for WMP.Ohters can discribe the dual and quads in a more technical terms if you wish?

Smoother operation.

Although check out Tesco but do not go for Medion they are rubbish.

The question is why would anyone run Vista Home Basic on a quad core machine?

The one you posted looks fine.Curry,s is a part of PC World now they are one shop.

It is bank holiday tomorow maybe they will have a few bargains?

If you want to hang on for a little while I am sure others will give you more help?

But I would say Vista Ultimate 64 bit is more suited to your needs.
