Default Connect laptop to TV?

Hello. I hope this is the right forum...

I have a Dell Latitude D600 that I want to hook up to a TV, mostly so I can watch mlbTV. I have s-video ports on both and the cable. When I connect them nothing happens. Clearly I'm missing some steps or perhaps components. Thanks.

When I check display properties I only see two monitors listed, both with the same name. I did some research and apparently I should be able to see a TV listing there(?) I have Driver Detective and it lists a "Generic television" under "monitors".

Does your TV and your computer have VGA ports? If you do, try buying a VGA cable. But post a picture of both VGA ports so we can tell you what cable you'll need.

The S-Video just needs some configuration. I do the same thing with my laptop.

In your graphics properties, look for somewhere where it says what to display. Mine did the same thing at first. You need to find the part where it is only having it display on the laptop screen and have it display on both with separate settings (otherwise the picture will be horrible). Then make sure the TV is on input.

Regards,
Adam

This is not a pic of my laptop VGA port but it looks just like this one:

What should I be looking for on the TV? Thanks.
