Default My monitor goes black. Help!

Can't figure out why my monitor goes black after a few minutes of usage. It's kinda goes to sleep after a few minutes and I can't wake it up even if I click the mouse or keyboard. I've already checked the power options in the control panel and the screen saver options. I've switched monitors and it's happens on the other monitor. So I'm pretty sure it's the box. I've played Crysis and CounterStrikeSource, the performance is good until the screen goes black. It doesn't go completely black, but it is very faint and you have to look at it very closely to see anything. I have the latest nvidia drivers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have a Gateway FX7024 Gateway Computers: Gateway® FX7024

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Isn't that PC under warranty still?

Thank you.

Yes it is. I have spoken to Gateway helpdesk. I will try their suggestions. Worse comes to worse, I will return it to BestBuy or Gateway. If possible, I would like to resolve this on my own if it's a non-hardware issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The odd thing is that you have tested, and had the same results, with other monitors. If it hadn't, my instant cry would have been "Backlight!!"...as it is I am struggling to think what could be causing it.

Did Gateway accept that it may be a hardware issue? Possibly PSU or graphics card related? What did they suggest - to stop us going over the same suggestions?

This looks like a hardware issue? But did this happen before you installed the NVIDIA driver or after? If it was after then try a roll back the driver in device manager.Or try resetting your screen resolution etc in control panel. Are you using the NVIDIA settings or normal PC ones for you resolution etc?

Note:Just downloading and running a driver update does not mean it automaticaly installs, you should go to device manger and manualy install it.Use install from a specific location.

Hingis - Gateway did not accept it was a hardware issue. They only offered suggestions. They suggested I reinstall the original drivers. If that doesn't work, do a system restore. I would prefer not to do a system restore.

Jelly Bean - I think it was after I installed the nvidia drivers. I will roll back to the original drivers. How do I do that? Go to Control Panel\System\Device Manager\Monitors\Uninstall?

I will also try adjusting the screen resolution as well.

There are also some hot fixes...
Hotfixes

The hardest part about doing all the above mentioned items, is that the monitor goes black after 5-10mins. Should I boot up in safe mode? Would that help?

Thanks.
