hi there
my pc has recently been restarting without warning.
this happens anytime regardless of what happens
i suspected a software problem or even a virus.
to eliminate everything in one swoop i formatted hdd
i re installed my windows xp (genuine copy)
this has not helped as it is still restarting and i cant even finish installing windows.
overheating i thought?
hoovered and cleared the fan of dust and left the side off with a desk top fan blowing cold air directly onto the motherboard??!!
very confused
help please
the only change to my system is i replaced the dvd rewriter with a new lightscribe one but kept it as master like the old one!!
Firstly disconnect the light scribe,it may have a fault or the cables it is connected to may of developed a fault.Reboot and see if that works.Lets try the simple ideas firstly.
Ok we need an elimination?Do you get a blue screen with any error codes on it?
Do you get any beeps besides the one single post beep?
Have you checked that the HDD and litescribe are not on the same power cable or IDE lead?
They need to be on there own system,HDD on one set of power lead cord and HDDs on there own IDE and same for CD/DVD drives,
cheers matey
i pressed all the ide cables onto the motherboard and checked they were all connected firmly and hey presto
i am on the mend again
all the best to you
many many thanks
