Default Computer Overheating!?

Well, I recently got a new cpu fan since my old fan was letting my cpu get to about 96C. at times of urgency. , I had merlin help me out with that a while back. Well now that I have a new one. The temp is still rather high. Idle it is about 45-50C.
Also, when i start my computer, a screen comes up and says something about pressing f1 to continue because someting about the lack of fan, I remember reading something about that in the manual, but if anyone could help out with my questions of is my idle temp of 40-50C for a brand new fan acceptable? and what can i do to lower those?

i believe that when a computer starts up it also checks for a fan signal, the fan usually has a little rev counter in it, if this is not working or does not have one the computer will take it as the fan is not spinning and will prompt you to do somthing about it eg, press f1. as for temps, what processor you running? what size case? is it summer? are all air vents free from crud, i got a little story i pulled out my x850xt after 3 months of use coz i was getting another car, pulled the heatsink off and it was absolutly blocked, like totally blocked, need to check for that stuff, anyways. get back to me

hah ,yeah all my fans are good, no crud, my case seems to be really low in temp. Its almost cooler inside the case than it is in my room, (its winter, about 54F outside, 73F in my room). But i am starting to think my thermal paste didnt get on there right, i think im going to take it off and retry tomorrow morning.

I tried looking up the stuff for startup and im going to have to go through bios for stuff with that..My case is..a normal sized case? lol im not really sure what size, but it isnt very good with airflow. I have four fans, then two on my Power Supply Unit sucking and spitting out air from the top..I have a 90mm fan in the front sucking air in, and two small 35mm? fans shooting air out the back...still not very much airflow. Ive got an AMD 4200+ Manchester. ASUS A8N32 SLI Deluxe Motherboard....im somewhat a few ages behind, but..ill gett here someday

also: i just started up Team Fortress 2 and my cpu temp just jumped straight up from about 43C to 60C just while updating... and my gpu is at a nice 49C...bawww i hate computers

I'm having sort of the same problem with mine. I just put in a new intake fan in the back and it's still running at 64C. Whenever I play games or run some programs, it'll over heat and shut off. As for the size of my case, it's about 2' high by 2'5" long and about 4" wide. My processor is AMD Athlon(TM)XP 3200+ ASUS 76477-OEM-0041682-66013. I've had it recently cleaned inside to remove the dust from having the side off to keep it cool. There's two other fans inside, one on the motherboard and the other on the graphics card, or so I've been told. Would keeping the side off really cause it any harm? I mean, I'm in a nursing home and only get $30 a mo. from SSI which pays for my internet/phone, so I'm on my own when it comes to finding someone to help me. The guy who put the fan in only knew how to do that. He's the one who told me about the other two fans in there and where they were located.

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time for the welcomes. LOL

I have an X2 4200 and it used to run 50 Idle but i think i just went into bios and changed fan turn on speed to a lower temp and so now i idle around 35 tops. Check the Bios for a Fan option. See if you can set a lower temp for fan powering on.
