Hi, Im having problems in an IT Suite with 5 out of 15 Acer power series s285 computers. Basically there is no sound whatsoever whether you plug headphones or speakers in either of the two sound ports on these machines. The driver is correct, I have even tried downloading the driver and reinstalling it from the acer website but there is still no output. The cards show up as working correctly and are set up exactly the same way as other computers in the suite that are working correctly.

My first impression is that its a hardware problem but for 5 to go like it in the space of a couple of weeks seems strange. Computers are about 18months old. Does anyway have any suggestions?

HI what type of sound card/chip is in the PC's it maybe worth trying a driver from the sound card/chip manufacturer. mmmmm.........not something going on in the BIOS settings the battery is over 18month old could have dropped some settings maybe just a shot in the dark.
