Default [Fixed] My other PC requests your help :]

Hi all,

Something wrong with my other PC, got told it just suddenly turned off and when turned on again nothing was showing on screen, so I checked all connections and they were fine. Tried to boot it up a few more times and it booted, then turned off again after a while but booted backup but said "BIOS Checksum Error" and started searching for Disks.

Turned it off again and restarted and it booted, was left for a while then came back and it was off again and would not come back this time, nothing on screen at all. Opened it up looked inside and noticed the CPU fan was spinning fairly slow and the case fan had stopped. Checked all connections inside and they were fine. Heres what I have tried:

- Resetting CMOS
- Checking all Connections
- Taking out battery for a while
- Taking case fan out and putting back in.
- One ram stick
Can't think of the rest atm.

Im assuming its a hardware fault, however not sure what exactly., heres the motherboard page for reference:
MSI Computer Corp. - Product

One of the times it did boot, I managed to get to hardware monitor in the BIOS and I did notice the CPU temperature was 58C, CPU is a P4. Not sure if thats high or not for a P4, and don't know if that was when the Fan was spinning slow as hadn't checked fans at that point.

Thanks for any help

Hey Uppy,

That error appears when the battery is low/dead. Would suggest replacing.

Update with bad news:

- Tried new battery, no difference.

- Tried different PSU, no difference.

More suggestions?

First of all reload your default BIOS Settings.

Scan your PC for viruses, as it's possible that your CMOS memory could be corrupted. Viruses can corrupt CMOS memory, but cannot reside in it. Finally, the only thing left to do at a software level is to update your BIOS.

Altough all of the above is quite rare, that's the only thing left to do before swapping the board. The highest probability, other than the battery is motherboard issues.
