Default Additional broadband connection

Does anyone know if it is possible to have two broadband connections using only one wired router? I have a desktop computer with wired broadband and would like to be able to share the broadband connection with a laptop computer in another room without using a wireless router i.e. wired connection as per the desktop.

A device called HomePlug was mentioned in Which? magazine but there was no further details on it.

Can anyone provide any knowledge/experience of this area?

Hi Yorky and Welcome to PCHF

Does the wired router only have more than one ethernet port? IF so you can plug the laptop into another port and share the internet connection there.

Homeplug is a network system that operates via your mains lines, you plug a little adaptor into the wall and then I think that connects to a router which is also plugged into the wall somewhere else and is a different type of setup to a normal wired router.

This link explains more about Homeplug:
