Default ISA vs PCI

I was just wondering if there any advantages that ISA cards have over PCI cards, I know that you can get many different kinds of cards in both formats (Graphics, sound, ethernet, modem, pcmcia...) but are there any advantages of ISA? I have no ISA slots on my motherboard so I couldn't use one if I wanted to but I'm just curious

Hi there, if my memory serves me correctly, ISA Slots are a very old standard and were replaced by i think AGP Slots.

I know, I was just wondering if they had anything up on PCI, actually, AGP slots replaced ISA as a gfx card option, PCI took care of the rest

ISA used to be a general purpose port, much like PCI today. only they had a VERY low transfer rate, the long cards had i beleiev up to 16MiB/s Tranfer speed. so PCI is much faster, at 133MiB/s, AGP next at 4GiB/s, and PCI express 16x, previously at 8GiB/s, the new PCIe 2.0 at 16GiB/s
