Hi, I'm trying to host a game of Football Manager 2008.

I used to run it fine, however I now have a router.

Now I have this router, it's masking or giving me the wrong IP addresses, so I don't know what my real IP address is. Hence, I cannot host a game, and give my friends the IP address to connect to me.

How can I either get my real IP address, or how do I configure my router to allow me to host the game, and get my IP?

My PC is running: Windows XP Home
Specs: AMD Athlon 3800+ 64-bit
2 x 512MB RAM PC3200
250GB HDD
nVidia 6600GT
Asus Motherboard


My router: Belkin 802.11g wireless
Connection: Two computers connect with ethernet RJ45 cables into router, router connects to set-top-box on TV (which contains the modem).

P.S. I have a program on my computer called m-Router, and network games work fine when connected directly into the Set-Top-box

m-Router is application used for Sony Erricson phones.

To find out your IP address, all you need to do is:

- Go to Start, Run and type in cmd
- From the command window, type in ipconfig

That's it! Alternatively, you can also set a static IP address for yourself. This can be done from Control Panel, Network Connections, right click on Local Area Connection, and go to Properties. Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on Properties. Your IP address can be changed from here. Subnet mask and Default Gateway need to remain the same as your currently using now (from ipconfig). The first three parts of the IP Address (normally 192.168.1.x or 192.168.0.x) also need to remain the same, and the last part of the address should be out of your DCHP Scope range, so anything between 100 and 254 should be fine.
