Hey PCHF'ers, Just a quick one, I was wondering - the room my pc is in can suffer from very damp walls at times - especially winter to the point that the wall is slightly wet and the wallpaper has actually come off on parts. My PC is near this wall however isnt up against it (about 9 inches from it) as there really is no other space I could have put it at the time. (No dampness from the wall has ever directly touched any art of the pc) It seems now my 2nd HD is on its way out and Ive had a num of other probs, do you guy think the environment could have caused or atleast contributed to this? Im not sure if its even possible. Thanks as always for the advice...

Yes, Extended periods of high humidity can cause damage in the form of corroded contacts for cards, cables and switches. Your CD/DVDes may suffer from it to if moisture collects on the laser or optical pickups. The only advice I have at this time is to move the PC as far away from the damp wall as possible and you might try one of those room dehumidifiers to help reduce the moisture in the air.

Thanks for the help Chance and Aw - will look into picking one of those up next week and have just moved the PC as far away as I can from the wall.
