Exclamation Dual TV Tuner Problems

I just got a Dual TV Tuner through Dell

Angel PCI at Lumanate (second one down, Angel Dual TV Tuner (PCI))

The only way that TV Tuner can work is through a direct connection.

At my apartment complex, we have one satellite dish, which then disburses the signal to all of the apartments. With my TV, I just plug the coax cable into the jack in the wall and I am good to go. However, this TV Tuner requires a direct connection which I do not have.

Do you know of any DUAL TV Tuners (internal preferred, but external works too) that will support not having a direct connection so that I can get one to work at where I live? Or anything that I can do to make it work? Dell tech support had no idea.

They did refund my money on the TV Tuner and let me keep it, but I would still love to be able to record one channel while watching another on my PC.

Thanks!

p.s. our provider is pavlov media (who sucks)

You need a tv antenna spitter and another section of coax cable. This is a similar setup to what I use on my Compro's...

well i have two coax cables already. and Dell said I don't need a splitter because it is built to split it already. there is only one jack for the coax cable on the Dual TV Tuner.

Where the wall tv outlet is, where you plug your normal television in, plug the spitter into that. Then run one coax cable to your televison, and one coax cable to your Dual TV Tuner in your computer.

This is what I do do with the three Compro digital tuner cards in my computer, although I have a custom splitter box made for it.

Do not rely on Dell's help line they are next to useless for support...

i have two jacks in my bedroom. one behind my desk (for the tv tuner) and one behind my dresser for my actual tv. so couldn't i just plug the tv into one jack and the tv tuner into another? and if not.... do they make coax cables long enough because my desk is pretty far from my tv... and not really any way to rearrange it.

Thank you for providing more info. I need not have gone looking for tv antenna splitters in my first reply.

Plug your television into one jack, and plug the tv tuner in to the other jack.

You can get coax cable made upto any length you require. Go any store like Radio Shack or your loacal electronic store and get them to make one for you.
