Hi Guys,
First post so I hope im in the right place...

I bought a second hand Dell notebook, its quite new and seems to work very well,
BUT..

When the battery runs low and I plug in the AC power to the mains to charge it up its taking around 48 hours to fully charge and the manual says it should take an hour max..

I take the battery out and the laptop works fine, I work from the battery and the laptop is fine, its just this very slow charging time the battery has.

Could this be a duff battery or is there anything else I can check? There are a couple of battery displays in windows and the dell software and both say the battery is working normally..

I posted on the Dell forum as its a dell laptop and got no replys...

I forgot to say I looked on the Dell site and its not one of the batterys recalled although the models are very similar the dell site said I did not need to have the battery recalled..

Hi Tag, welcome to the pchf

it could be either the battery, or the power pack itself.
I'd see if you could get a cheap 2nd hand power pack and try that as well.

I presumed that with the Laptop working fine on the power that the AC power pack would be fine??

I will have a look around and see what price they come in at.

I have worked with many PC's but never laptops and this is my first laptop of my own and dont know how to best trouble shoot when all windows indicators say the battery is performing normally.

I guess im going to have to spend £80 or so to get a new battery huh?

With it being a Dell laptop do I need to go to dell for batterys or are there generic packs that work the same ?
