Default [Resolved] POST only every at alternate start ups

This problem doesn't bother me too much, as I hardly ever switch off or restart my PC, but..... it is frustrating when I do.

Every time I restart my PC, it doesn't pass the POST, unless I restart it again, then it passes the POST ok. Does anybody have any ideas, coz it seem really weird to me.

This problem has been occurring consistently for over a year now, the PC is only 18 months old.

Thank you.

I suggest you update the bios.

Tell us exactly what make and model your PC is or the motherboard make and model and we can help you further.

My motherboard is an ASRock K7S8X v3 (BIOS P2.20).

I have never upgraded the BIOS - I'm a bit weary of doing so (is this feeling justifiable? - this is my only PC).

However, I will do it if necessary. What are the implications?

My floppy drive began to freeze up during start up, so I never managed to even start upgrading the BIOS. Have now changed my MOBO, so problem solved. Thanks
