Default white screen on bootup

I have recenlty bought a new motherboard and CPU and upon installing it (as far as i know correctly), when i bootup the machine the monitor stays white i have checked to make sure that the ram is installed properly, the CPU is also installed correctly, along with all of the other hardware. I am at a complete loss of what to try next, any tips would be helpful

Hey Spellbyte, nice to see ya bud

I find that the first thing to do when I have re-built or built for the first time is to check all the connections...and then check them all again.

If you are totally sure that the hardware (cpu, ram and expansion cards) are all seated correctly - then make sure that your system speaker is connected correctly (incase u r getting post/diagnostic) bleeps.

If you are sure that all of the above is ok, borrow another GFX card from a friend and try that.

If you have two sticks of RAM, try one only and then swap them around.

Re-check that the CPU heat-sink and fan are functioning correctly....do your fans and hard drive "spin up"?

When you have exausted all that come back

Hiya hengis, the site is looking great btw.

I find that the first thing to do when I have re-built or built for the first time is to check all the connections...and then check them all again.

I have checked the connections about 5 times now

If you are totally sure that the hardware (cpu, ram and expansion cards) are all seated correctly - then make sure that your system speaker is connected correctly (incase u r getting post/diagnostic) bleeps.

this will be my next thing to try out

If you are sure that all of the above is ok, borrow another GFX card from a friend and try that.

the mobo that i'm using has onboard graphics, so i tried using that aswell as my tnt2, both with no luck

If you have two sticks of RAM, try one only and then swap them around.

I have tried using only one stick of ram, but i haven't tried swapping them around, by that i take it you mean trying them in different slots?

Re-check that the CPU heat-sink and fan are functioning correctly....do your fans and hard drive "spin up"?

all of the system fans and cpu fan "spin-up", now seeing as i bought the hardware from E-Bay so other than the fact that there are no burn marks on the cpu i have no other way of testing the CPU, not that i know of, if you know of a way to test the cpu's reliablity any other way i would love to know

it just occured to me that i haven't let you in on the specs that i am dealing with here, so here goes:

it's a jetway 830ch mobo with sis730 chipset
AMD Athlon 1.1GHz
the heatsink and fan are good enough for upto a 2 GHz CPU so no problems there
the memory all works cos it's the same as what i have ni my currently working PC along with all the other hardware, the only thin i can think of is that the cpu settings on the mobo aren't correct, i have set the core speed to 100mhz as it should be for 1.1GHz athlon, and there are no other jumper settings for the voltage or frequency, so i am quite literally stuck on this one now, and also quite eager to get it all working, My athlon 550 MHz is starting to break down on me quite rapidly,

also for some reason there is no cable running from the pc speaker, but it is a very old case i've got, so i cant diagnose the beeps too good :|

also i have tried every possible combination of the ram in different slots, it didn't take long as there only two slots on the mobo
