Question [Answered] PC specs

was just wondering are the specifications for a computer based on their maximun performance possible or their average? i have a celeron (cant remember the specs) but the gmaes i play go slow when the computer cleary is better than the recomending specs.even when my computer was new i cant remember it ever performing up to its max and obviously it just gets slower as more programs are installed.maybe its just that celerons a rubish make? anyway im hoping to get a new computer and was just wondering

Unfortunately the Celeron was really never built for the high-end gaming market. Even coupled with a decent gfx card and some hefty RAM you are going to struggle to get it to perform really well at higher res with new games. If your games are playing slowly there is probably still a way to squeeze some life out of your PC before you delve into your "New PC" funds

I have never really found a set of "rec specs" that have been correct. All PCs perform at different levels, depending on how the system was built, what it has inside, what software is installed, the file system.....the list is truly endless!! One thing I do know - if you want to play games like Doom3 and Half Life 2 at decent res with fast refresh rates, you are going to need a new PC....but for that type of entertainment it has GOT to be worth it in the long run

Given the price difference between Intel and AMD even if there as a 10% performance advantage in favour of Intel it still does not warranty considering anything other than an AMD.

I use AMD's mobile 64 3200+ chip, it rocks.

I can honestly say that I have never bought an Intel cpu. I am not saying that they have not been impressive enough to me to buy one, it's just the cost, always the cost that stops me.

I am impressed with the results i have seen from the AMD Sempron read more here: http://www.cooltechzone.com/index.ph...d=359&Itemid=0. The Celeron is old architecture and as we all know in the IT/PC world, old just doesn't cut it
