I've been having sound lags in the game cutscenes I've been recently installing. It started with Batman: Arkham Asylum with the opening and game cutscenes have audio lag. Mirror's edge was installed next and it worked fine. Now the L4D 2 demo's opening scene only, is audio lagging. This never happened to me before, why

Hi there, sorry for the wait.
The best advice I can give you to start with is to update your sound, graphics card and motherboard drivers. Do that and let us know if this has had any effect.

Hi Dash,
Wanted to say that I have the exact same problem, except I noticed the lag for the first time in the "intro movie" in the Left 4 Dead 2 Demo. Now it happens in other games to. Such as Dragon Age Origins. |

Unfortunately, audio lag is usually down to hardware, especially with those that use onboard audio chipset's like the Sigmatel/Realtek/AC97's.
These chipsets require CPU time in order to process audio. Since these games are very CPU intensive (you only have a Pentium D), lag is to be expected. If your running at full CPU load, then it's going to have a hard time processing audio. In this case, you would need to upgrade your CPU, and/or have a decent dedicated sound card to process your audio, instead of the basic onboard chipset. Making sure you have all tasks closed and nothing running in the background during gameplay may help > anything that will take the stress away from the CPU. Also check temperatures. CPU's will "throttleback" to reduce it's clock speed when temperatures run too high. |
