Hi all..

I am having real trouble Starting A game I have Downloaded and tried to run and install on a couple of occasions also I have had the exact same issue in the past with this game

The Game is called F.E.A.R assault/combat

I have downloaded the game from:

FEAR - First Encounter Assault Recon

Each time I try to Run/Start the game I get the same error message each time stating that F.E.A.R has stopped working and then closes.

I am using Vista SP2 and I know this runs DirectX 10 as default so I downloaded and installed DirectX9 to see if this fixed the issue because the game is pretty old now.
But this had NO effect either.

I then went to Control Panel - Problem Reports and solutions to see if vista could find any fixes for the issue but there where none to be found.

I have tried running the game as administrator and also Ran the game in various compatibility modes such as WinXP SP1 and SP2 by right clicking on the F.E.A.R Combat entry in my start menu and choosing the various compatibility modes. This did Nothing too.

I am pretty lost now as too what to do.

Is there anyone here who could help
Or has anyone had A similar issue and managed to fix it ?

Try temporarily disabling UAC before you run the game.

Also update your graphics card drivers.

Okay..

I had already updated my Graphics card to the latest driver before hand, but thanks for the tip.

Unfotunately disabling UAC did not wok either.

But I managed to get F.E.A.R combat working by completely restoring my Vista system to an earlier time using system restore.

So at least I can get F.E.A.R Combat started now...

BUT I cannot seem to Play or star A game of F.E.A.R combat and join any games whatsoever.

I can get to all the settings etc and even create A profile But I cannot Start or play the Game!

Has anybody got any experience with this game. Or can anybody tell how to start playing F.E.A.R?
