Default fallout 3 crash after start up.

I'm having the same issue as the original poster and Simshadow - http://www.pchelpforum.com/pc-games/...tml#post416193.

What's bugging me is I had this problem several months ago when I first got the game but resolved it by updating my driver for my graphics card and then all of a sudden the problem returned! I've updated my graphics and sound card drivers again but it still crashes every time I click load or new. Any help or ideas?

Hello & Welcome Stubbus,

I have moved your post into its own thread. You might have noticed that Simshadow's post was overlooked - Simshadow as well as you had posted on an old thread. Your issues would have appeared to be a reply to the original poster rather than a new issue and slipped our attention.

As I'm about to go off-line for the night, I"ll mark your thread OPEN to attract the attention of our other techs.

Hi Stubbus, sorry for the delay on this thread, see if this helps, but first make sure you are running with the latest game patch for Fallout 3. Then, use the following instructions:

- Click Start > All Programs > ffdshow and then Audio decoder configuration.
- In the left hand pane, click Info & debug or DirectShow control (depending on the version).
- In the right hand pane, look for a check box labelled "Don’t use ffdshow in", and pop a tick in the box.
- Then, at the end of the line add ;fallout3.exe
^ If the box is empty, make sure you add the ";" at the begging, no spaces.

- Finally click Apply > OK.

EDIT: Marked as Answered.
