Well I recently installed Scarface The World is Yours (what a mistake) . Before this I was able to play games fine such as battlefield 2142. While playing Scarface, all of a sudden my screen would shut off and sound also, being unable to do anything forcing me to shut off my computer. I'm not much of a noob, so I guessed it was some kind of critical error with Direct X and my video card so i installed a copy of DX that I knew was good, and i continued to have this problem with scarface. So I tried playing Battlefield 2142 Demo and the same thing happened. I then tried playing the full version of battlefield 2142 and it played fine(im guessing because its patched). I then uninstalled scarface and i continue to have this problem with certain games. I installed Black And White II and it shuts off about 2 minutes into the gameplay.

I think the first step would be to use some kind of program that will record what temp my something is at when this happens, but idk. Help please!

windows xp
AMD Athlon 64+ 3200+ processor
Nvida GeForce 9600 GT
1.5 gig ram

Download speedfan,and post your temps...SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

I fixed it by opening my computer case and running a large fan towards to inside.

Ok that's one way to fix it. I'll mark this thread as fixed then. Thanks for your reply....................Vger
