Hey guys, I feel really stupid posting topic after topic here, with all my damn problems, but I dunno where else to go.

This is less a problem, and more curiosity.
Basically, My call of duty 4 runs amazingly on my pc.

I have a crappy graphics card, but COD4 manages to run with tthe settings on

Bad resolution
EXTRA high model detail
4x anti aliasing
and high background detail.

So other than resolution, the games on high settings, however..

Call of duty 5, which apparently has the same graphics, runs TERRIBLY.

On the lowest possible resolution+ everything turned off(shadows/bullets) etc, it's still laggy.
If an explosion happens, i get down to like 1FPS.

How is this possible?
I lag terribly in COD5 with literally LOWEST possible settings, yet cod4 runs great with all high settings(cept res)

Does anyone know how to fix this?

It's a possibility that COD5 is using an upgraded engine designed around higher end systems. You could try turning off AA and all of those features in yoru GPU control panel, if it came with one. Can you try a better GPU, like from a friend or soemthing?

in game, all the settings are turned either off, or on lowest.

What is the exact make of your card?

Your card's drivers may be forcing AA in cod5, it's a possibility. You can stop this in the control panel that came with your card's drivers. I believe if you right - click the desktop it should show up in the right - click menu.

Of course, if you have a really old card this might not be available.

I KNOW it's terrible, everyone keeps telling me.

It runs cod4 fine though, and Anti alias is on, on cod4, so it doesn't make sense why 5 is SO laggy when 4 runs great.

Hmm that is rather odd. Have you tried a reinstall?

Honestly I just think becuase the fifth one is a year newer, they used a different engine that may be more taxing for older cards. I'm not too sure though.

What OS are you running? If Vista, there are always quirks with Vista, try running it on XP if you are a Vista user.

If your in Vista, also you could try turning off the indexing service, I believe you can download this for XP also, so see if that is running and turn it off. It is known to make things lag.

Well, the strange thing is it's using COD4's engine and everything.

I tried reinstall, and I am on vista, i dunno how to turn off indexing.
