Unhappy Having problems reinstalling Halo 2

Well, the problem is, ive been trying to use many XP patches for Halo 2. Now, that i found the right one for me, and one that actually works, i have problems reinstalling Halo 2. The first time i installed it, at the end of the setup, a little window appeared saying: Error Code: 2. I wasnt able to run the game, so i deleted the folder containing Halo 2. Then, when i tried to use this one patch to run Halo 2 on XP, and clicked ''Customize game Install'', the setup said:

Installation cannot be customized after game installation has been initiated.
Please choose the play option instead, or uninstall and reinstall the product.

The problem is, that i cant uninstall the game, since i deleted the folder, and I already got rid of Halo 2, in the Add or Remove Programs list, but the setup keeps saying that its installed. Is there any program that gets rid of Halo 2 in the registry, or any program that deletes every single file of its setup? So i can install Halo 2 with the patch? Please i took ages to find the patch, and now that i find it, this whole ''Halo 2 is installed, but at the same time its not'' happens. The only way i can get the setup to work, is to click ''Play Halo 2 for Windows Vista''. Once i click play, the setup tries to install Halo 2 in my C: drive, which doesnt have enough free space. I need to install it on my D: drive, and i need to customize the setup, otherwise, the patch wont work, and at the end of the setup, the game will be launched, which doesnt give the patch enough time to patch the files, so it can be runned in Windows XP.

So, the real problem is, finding a way to delete Halo 2 from the registry, or finding a way to make the Setup think that Halo 2 is uninstalled.

please. this makes me crazy

Hello Alfax and Welcome.

Have you tried using a registry cleaner to clean your registry? If not, try CCleaner. See if that helps.

Sadly, it didnt work. Ive been using CCleaner since its been in beta testing. I took care of Halo 2 in the registry of Windows a while ago. It keeps detecting it as ''installed''. I also took care of a Halo 2 realted folder in documents and settings. maybe that isnt even the problem. maybe is some setup problem. any ideas?

I find it prettty weird that it says: ''Installation cannot be customized after game installation has been initiated.''

I did not initiate it. Maybe its some setup glitch.
