Angry Pool game

I have this pool game called cue club I have had since 2004. It used to work great but since I installed a galaxy 8400 gs card it will not stay on. I have tried all the compatibility modes with no luck. I get this error message:
access violation at 0x0040C987 (tried to read from ox0638554E) program terminated
I sent an email to the people who make it Bulldoginteractive UK but haven't heard back from them. Any ideas anyone?

Hello Richard, Welcome back to the forum!

Have you updated your graphics card drivers? I realise it probably is not the problem as the game is old but it can't hurt to check

I will mark this as open to encourage those who know to come and take a look

Regards,

Smokeycheech

Can you uninstall Cue Club - do some serious housekeeping by getting
CCleaner from CCleaner - Download

Then install.
I suggest when asked untick all the options apart from the top one

CCleaner:

Under the Cleaner section: select “Run Cleaner”

Under the Registry section: select “Scan for Issues”

(when asked about registry “Backup” save & then accept where it saves it to.)
then “Fix Selected Issues”

Do the Registry option again..(and again until no issues found)

Reboot and reinstall Cue Club.

I had already upgraded the video card hoping that would work but it didn't. I downloaded the CCleaner and rcleanup and the registry cleaner and rebooted. I re-installed Cue Club and tried it in all the compatibility modes and it still will not work. I did notice one thing though when starting the game it asks which video driver to use but it only has Primary Display Driver as the choice. Before this card it also had the driver for the integrated media adapter listed.

Can anyone come up with any other ideas please. To add to the above threads I also downloaded Dos Box but I can't get it to do anything. I don't know anything about the commands except what I read.

Hello RichardMC!

Have you considered updating your Cue Club installation? This version is dated December 2006 and is freeware.

Or the manufacturer has a $17 US version available here that is likely more current and offers more play options.

The later versions of the software might have better video compatibility.

Clearly your new card and the game are incompatable.

Have you downloaded the latest patches from here:

CueClub - Pool and Snooker Game

as well as the latest Direct X
