I've seen threads about this all over the internet and none of the solutions worked for me. During a cutscene in games like Devil May Cry 4, Saint's Row 2, and Prototype the cutscenes start out fine and then the audio progressively gets more and more out of sync with the video. If the video is more than 10 seconds long, its usually 2-3 seconds off.
I've tried turning down acceleration to various levels, every driver for everything is up to date, its set to 5.1 surround which is what I have setup, I also tried turning down the settings to as low as possible and it still didn't work.
Maxed out settings with 8x AA in DMC4 give about 50-60 FPS, maxed out with no AA gives about 100-130FPS.
Any help is very appreciated.

Hey Mizak,Welcome to PCHF. We have a terrific team of techs here, as well as a very experienced, and helpful user community. I feel certain that we will be able to help you resolve this. First of all if you are running XP SP2, you are not up to date with all of your drivers. Or you could be running into a conflict, where the drivers are set to SP3, and you are running SP2. Try doing those updates, and see if your situation improves. Have you done a memory test to see if there are any bad sectors? If not click on Memtest86 from my signature, and download that. The instructions are on the Technical Info tab, let us know if you have any trouble. Also, is the only time you get this "disconnect" between sound and vid during cut scenes in games? Do you ever notice any problems playing just videos for example? Does this occur after you have been running for a while or immediately from the beginning? You might also want to check your temps to see if you are running hot when this occurs. Looking forward to your reply, TTFN LGW

The lag/delay between video and sound only occurs during cutscenes in video games, never in VLC/media player/itunes. It also happens immediately and my computer stays cool. |

Hey Mizak,No problem, thanks for the updated info. I can't imagine why you couldn't put Memtest on a bootable DVD. Just be prepared, it can really take a while to run. If you want to simplify the process a bit, you could remove all but one stick at a time to test, that way you don't have to back to retest after the fact to determine which stick is bad. (If any of them are. )Let's see what the results from your memory tests are before we start troubleshooting the next step. Looking forward to your reply, TTFN LGW

OK, that's great, at least we can rule out memory lag. Are the games you listed the only ones that this occurs with, or just the ones that you play most often? Are you able to play any other games with cut scenes in which this doesn't happen? Did you verify that these games are compatible with 64bit? I am assuming that you have already checked for all patches and updates for the games. Did the games ever work properly? Looking forward to your reply, TTFN LGW
