Default Hello !! Lag Problem running Blizzard Games.

I'm new to the forum... so Bare with me as I'm looking for a little help.

I have a problem, I try to play "Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne" or "Starcraft" and my system lags A LOT(I'm also trying to Prepare for Starcraft 2). I'm on a high speed connection. 1482kps (Speak easy Test Average.) So I don't think it's my modem. I think it may be my video card... The computer in whole is old. but I can't afford to buy just a whole new one just yet. Any recommendations?

Yeah same as Smokey said just a few things to add too.

Have you tried doing a system defrag?
Have you done a disk cleanup?
Have you tried uninstalling no longer needed programs?

One last thing for you to try follow this excellent guide on CCleaner it should help you clean up anything 'unneeded' on your system

well drivers were checked and uptdate. I also was told to get rid of any excessive dust... SO i took a "can of Air" and dusted off the fan but none of the other chipset. Still runs slow...

Defrag, Chkdsk, and Disk Cleanup all complete.

Hey there Oathkeeper!

Being that your Western Digital is a 74G.. how many programs do you have installed/running before you game? Going into your task manager will give us an idea as to how many things may be running while you are trying to play.

You have a good amount of RAM for the most part, but if there are a lot of unnecessary programs running in the background, it will slow your game dramatically.

There may still be a heat issue.. please click on the Speedfan link from my signature and let us know what that says, both prior to and during a game. Enabling logging from the menus will give you the results.

Thank you for your patience in running these programs. We're all trying to gather information to help get this fixed up for you

It says that both fans are going at 0 RPM. both before and After the game is started...

Are the fan speeds the only thing that it gives you?

We need to verify if the fans are indeed spinning up. Can you hear them?

You may need to open the case (shutting off, carefully removing a side panel, then starting it back up) It should be very evident if they are.

There should be some temperatures from Speedfan as well. Those will quickly indicate if the CPU fan is working.

Looking forward to your reply
