Default Call of Duty: WaW

I'm having problems with installing/ loading this game.

Several things happen:
A- I install the game along with PB. It always freezes at the same spot during it's finalization process. It's deffinately frozen, as I left it for 6 hours and it hadn't made any progress.
B- I install it without PB. This way it actaully completes the install process; however, when I try to launch single player, it brings up the logo like it's loading, screen goes black for a few seconds then dumps me back to desk top. If I launch from multiplayer, it gives me "error during initialization: unhandled exception caught".

I've tried reinstalling this more times then I can remember. I think it's racist.

Yes, my specs are plenty to run this game and yes, it's a legit copy.

This is with XP, fyi.

Someone save me and I'll love you long time.

Hey there.

I'll mark your thread as open for our tech team to look at, just a few questions while your waiting.

Have you tried copying the folder from your disk to your desktop and installing it that way?

Have you also tried installing the game in Safe Mode?

When you've managed to install the game without Punkbuster have you tried downloading and installing the patches?

Looking forward to your reply

Just tried those, no dice. Interestingly enough, I was able to get the non-installed PB one to actaully play by remaximizing it before it stopped running. However, it would not connect to the internet, play sound, or let me install PB.

I've never had a game that was this huge of a pain.

Hey Amkus,

My welcome to PCHF as well. Are you installing from a CD/DVD/ or a download?

Have you made sure that the previous attempts to install were deleted before attempting to reinstall?

Are you making sure that your Anti-Virus software is disabled before attempting installation?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

I'm installing it from DVD.

I turned both anti-virus and firewall off.

I make sure all the files are deleted and use ccleaner to make sure the registry files are gone.

I also tried "custom" install and had it install directx with it, but that didn't help either.

Yep. I also just installed and played the CoD:4 demo, and it worked just fine. It uses the same engine as WaW.
