its a ps2 keyboard and a usb mouse i have would the mouse affect both the keyboard and mouse causing them to freeze or could it be the ps2 keyboard causing the game to freeze as for models

keyboard is a ps2 Microsoft keyboard model:rt2300
mouse is a razer diamondback usb mouse model number: rz01-020200.opticalmouse

No I don't think there should be a problem with the keyboard or mouse. I assume you aren't having problems outside of Fallout 3 with either the keybord or mouse?

Did you try the enableplayercontrols command?

This is what my Fallout.INI looks like. Its in My Documents > My Games > Fallout 3

bAlwaysRunByDefault=1
bBackground Mouse=0
bBackground Keyboard=1

That seems the only relevant section.

If you do a search for [Controls] in your own FALLOUT.INI you will be able to compare your settings with the ones I have. Note you should save a copy of your .ini file in case you mess it up.

Other than that I don't know what the problem could be.

Have you tried running Fallout 3 in Windowed Mode and uninstalling any third party ffdshow codecs? If you don't know what ffdshow codecs are then you probably don't have any installed.

Some codecs can interefere with the game but as far as I know that would only be from a graphical point of view and not from the point of view of disabling your hardware.

Might be worthwhile completely uninstalling the game including all registry entries and/or trying a PS/2 mouse. Unless you've already tried that?

Then if that turns out to not solve the problem we can be sure that the problem is a software problem and most likely is a problem with the software of the game itself.

i tried turning off ffdshow video all ready had sound off and tried different lower ress to see if made a diffrence and my Fallout.INI file already is set to that as above and still did the same this time while talking to some one and he kept talking while it was frozze.

i dnt knw if i said this or not but this dosent start till i turn 19 in the game if that helps at all and also tried uninstalling evrathing and even put it on a diffrent hardrive.

aww forgot to say tried a usb to ps2 addaptor but it dosent supply enough power to my mouse for it to wrk just stays still on loading windows

i have know just tried running this in windows mode and same thing still happens tried from new game in case existing save was casing it this time when i was being hit with a batton and when he was knocking me back he would run forward and keep hitting me so not a game freeze

So when you exit the vault do you level up or does it crash as soon as you exit the vault ie before you level up.

I suppose if you upload your save file somewhere I could get you out of the vault and save after the level up then upload the save file again for you and see if that helps.

well i can get out the vault and lvl some time and if it freezes i can go back in and play between another 4 to 10 mins and then it will do it again i tried a suggestion some where else i started up the auto save got to megatone(dnt knw if names right) it done it there while chatting to some on have went to convince stor before but i have to keep loading up starting from auto save.

i dnt knw whats happening the game keeps running fine just keyboard and mouse stop interating with the game
