Default Unable to download and install WoW on my PC.

For a couple days I've been trying to install the WoW trial to give the game a shot. Ever since I started, I've had nothing but problems. I've basically had three issues come up when I tried to download the game using Blizzard's downloader. The first issue was the download just stopping. It claimed the download would be finished in "about 2 minutes," but I left it on for about 45 minutes with no progress at all. The next issue I had was this error message: "Failed to create files for world of warcraft trial. (Please close all applications and try again)" After dealing with these issues for a bit, I decided to try the full client.

Attempting to download the full client, I got this error message: "The file "Localization.xml" could not be loaded." I also got the "dailed to create files" error and the download just stopping. After dealing with the errors, I searched google and various websites (Mainly the Blizzard support forum) for solutions. I tried downloading in safe mode, disabling anti-virus and firewall programs, closing as many applications as I could, flushing the DNS, among other things. I also deleted all files created by the downloads and tried them again, only to run into the same problems. Eventually I decided to reformat my hard drive and try it again.

After backing up my files, I updated Windows and downloaded Firefox and tried again. This time the trial download made it about 80% of the way before the "failed to create files" error showed up. After that the other problems started popping up. I searched round for some alternate ways of getting the client, but I didn't want to try them.

I then tried to download and install the game on my dad's laptop. Surprisingly the install files were downladed successfully and actually worked. I then transfered the files onto a USB drive and transfered them to my PC. It started to install, but I ended up getting another error:

"The installer was unable to read the file "C:\Users\---\Desktop\World of Warcraft Trial\Installer Tome.mpq". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at C:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the installer. (The data being read was "InstallCD\TBC\Global\Unpack\FrizQuadrata.ttf" , and the error code was 8.) If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (Converter::Load)"

I tried deleteing the mpq files (installer tome#.mpq.part files) but got the Localization.xml error. Every time I try (In Safe Mode too) I get that error right at 2%. I also ran a hard drive diagnostic tool, but I got no errors. I then tried to install the game on my dad's laptop, and it's actually downloading and installing the files. It's been running for 9 hours so far, and it's at 73% so hopefully everything will be fine and I can play.

The thing is, is that I'd like to have the game on my PC since I have a better video card, and the fact that it is my computer. I don't have any disks, but I'd assume I'd run into the same problems with the disks anyway. If I had to guess what the problem is, is the Windows Vista install on my computer.

I had installed World of Warcraft a year ago or so, but I didn't have much of a chance to play the game back then. The game worked great, and the only change on this PC since then was the upgrade to Vista from Windows 2000. I thought it may have been an issue with some application I had or something, so I reformatted to see if it would fix anything. Obviously it hasn't so I'm asking for help.

My computer and the laptop are running Vista Home Premium 32bit. I'm thinking it may have something to do with administrator rights or the ability for the program to create files in the necessary directories. Apart from that, I have no other ideas.

Thanks in advance.

I managed to get the game running on my PC by transferring the entire WoW folder from the laptop to my PC. Hopefully I won't have any problems with the disks .
