Default Mouse problems starting with WoW

Hello PCHF

First off, let me say that i am totaly new to the forum, and i have close to no knowledge with computers when it gets technical.

I had a problem with finding the right sub-forum for this thread, but i hope this is close enough.

Heres the deal: Im using a HP laptop which i use pretty much only for gaming, and the occasional school homework. My problem is, that my mouse is acting very strange. It's kind of hard to explain, but i'll try: My mouse will often act like im pressing down the wheel button (the one which can scroll down internet sites and such) even though im not even touching it. When im browsing the web, it makes the site act like im focusing on another program (the blue bar at the top becomes faded, you know) and i cant click on anything, unless i press down the wheel button, which makes everything normal again, for a minue or two. I cant press the different programs running at the bottom of the screen either.

In WoW it results in me being unable to press my skills, so i have to press the wheel every 20 seconds to not screw up. If i press while is acting up, i just clear my target.

I thought the mouse was the problem at first but after trying 3 mice (Trust 2830, Logitech VX nano wireless and a Logitech G5 laser mouse, whitch im using at the moment) the problem was still there.

Do you guys have any idea of what might have happend? I didnt have a problem at the start, i just suddenly came.

If you need more information, just post what you want to hear, and ill try to get it posted.

Thanks in advance!

Howdy thubb and welcome to PCHF

Lets try the easy method first!

Right Click My Computer
Click Manage.
A new window will appear
Click (in the left hand side) device manager
Next click the little + on Mice and other pointing devices
Next Right click on your mouse and click uninstall
Reboot your computer and let windows find it again by itself..
See if this cures your Mouse Blues

Hey again. I did as you wrote Merlin, and i saw two mice. My G5 and the touchpad. I uninstalled my mouse, but all it did was removing it from the list, so the mouse didnt work. I plugged the USB cable out and in, and it worked again.
After that i tried uninstalling the touchpad, which required two reboots. One for the removal, and one for the re-installing. But after the reboots the problems still persists. Could there be any other solutions to the problem?

Thube just a quick question is your Logitech a tilt wheel mouse and are you running IE8?

Please could you post:How to post your computer specifications.

Ok possibly conflict with mouse hardware drivers.

Uninstall your mice drivers as Merlin said from device manager, plug only one mouse in and reboot the machine.

Then download a fresh hardware driver from the manufacturers website.

Hey jelly bean.
My mouse wheel can tilt, yes.
I have posted my pc spec.

Okay, ill try to do what you write, but im a bit confused at the "download a fresh hardware driver from the manufacturers website" part. Shall i download anything from HPs website, or something different?
Sorry, i know i kind of need it explained like im 7 years old :d

No,download a driver for the make and model of mouse you want to use.

If you want to use the Logitech mouse go to Logitech website and under support tab download that driver for the mouse and operating system you are using.

If you want to use a HP mouse then you would go to the HP website and so on.

I thought you may have a tilt wheel mouse as I have one and they can be annoying.Possibly the wheel is sticking and you end up with the issues you are experiencing.Tilt wheel sticking is possible.

With the logitech mouse software will be downloaded for the mouse and how to set it up.You can set how the tilt wheel performs.Possibly set it to zoom in and out a page rather than set it to scroll a page.Or set it to do nothing,it is your choice.

Hey and do not put yourself down about computer issues,we have many many members with all diffrent knowledge of computers. We allow and help as much as possible if you wish more detailed instructions then please just ask.
