Please I need help................ I've been playing Halo combat evolved pc for a few years now and just love this game online. Three weeks ago I noticed when I pressed the "t" key to chat with teammates while in game, the chat box opens but typing doesn't work...Being a chat person I was a little frustrated not being able to chat to teammates...So I decided to uninstall the game and reinstall it thinking it might fix the problem...BIG MISTAKE on my part...Now I have two problems...
After reinstalling Halo, I connect to the internet which updates the game automatically and takes me to the lobby. When I click on get list only two or three servers appear and that's it.... Now I know that there is always about 700 servers from playing this game a long time...
It's been three weeks that I've not been able to play....Please if anyone knows how to fix this I would be very very happy to play again and keep on with the killings, lol... I am average with computer programing and that kind of stuff so please a step by step would be greatly apreciated....

First off, welcome! Sounds like quite the predicament! But, it's nothing the great techs (like myself) here at PCHF can't resolve. I'm going to mark this as Open so the rest of the tech team as well as the members know to reply.

First thing that comes to mind is game patches... If you are running an older version of the game you will more than likely see only those servers which run the same version as yours, so if you haven't updated your game to the latest patch, here you go:

Thanks for the reply, I'm going nuts with all the patches I see and I'm not certain if I'm installing them right. My game tells me that I have version 1.08 and I tried e few of them and I'm really not sure... So I've started fresh with the uninstall of the game and reinstalled it.... Which patch do you recomend from here and how do I install it right.
p.s My game is a very old version......about 5 years

With a clean install, what is the version shown as?
If its anything but 1.05 follow the auto update process ingame, if you have version 1.05 then we'll have to do one manual update.

I just put in my cd to reinstall Halo and I get the
message.............
Halo setup needs to modify/c/program files/microsoft/halo/exe which is currently in use by another aplication. Quit any other aplications and then click retry.... But when I do nothing happens....

uhm...try to reboot your system...
(your user account has admin priviledges right?)
