Default Strange Fallout 3/Monitor Error

So I'm a bit upset that I bought a new graphics card (£~80 in total) but still was having the same crash error in Fallout 3.

Most often it happens when loading a game, straight away. But it can happen any time from me actually playing the game.

I noticed some weird refresh things on my HDTV which I am using as a monitor. I switched to my old 17" LCD monitor and that works well.

Note that on my HDTV I had all the visual extras turned off. My 17" monitor plays the game on High without any upset.

Now I did get a crash after about an hour, same thing 'Unexpected Error'. There was no error code. Just a 'Send Error Report' type thing.

On my old card, I received an error code that ended in ded0 which was Unexpected Error.

Does anyone know what the issue is? If its fixable? I want to play on my 32" TV/monitor. I play RE4 just fine on my HDTV and its only Fallout 3 giving me trouble.

The two graphics cards I have tried are a 7600 and a HD 4670. I'd appreciate some help

Hi Amtech,

Sorry you haven't received an answer on this one. Not an easy question to answer I'm afraid, as you appear to be using the same settings between both the TV and the monitor, including resolution? The PC shouldn't care what is connected via VGA, the only thing I can really suggest, is to make sure both game patches, and NVidia drivers are up to date. As well, check the driver of the monitor itself, by right clicking on your desktop, go to Properties, Settings tab, followed by Advanced, Monitor tab. Check monitor types for both the TV and the Monitor. TV's tend to use generic drivers, as well as some monitors. Dell monitors for example, will nearly always have a driver associated with it. It's very unlikely you'll be able to find one for a TV.

Hi Monkey,

Its working okay now. I think it was a problem with the game files. I found a patch that gives me one error every few hours (game freezes, have to reboot) rather than 'program has caused an error' every five minutes.

Its working on my TV now too. Not sure why the monitor fared better but glad I can play it on a big screen.
