I used to have an old dv6000z laptop, but a few months ago I upgraded to a dv7z laptop. When I try to install games from multiple CD's I have a very strange problem and I cannot finish installing.

I first tried with Unreal Tournament 3: 2 discs. The first one finishes installing, and the second one gets about 75% of the way before it stops. The installer itself just isn't able to finish installing. I can still work on other files on the computer, and no errors are shown. It just stops.

I then installed WoW: Wrath of the Lich King from the 1 DvD, and it installed perfectly.

Lastly I've tried reinstalling Black and White 2: 4 discs, and it only get through almost all of the second disc before the same problem I had with UT3 occurs. It stops installing. The disc even stops whirring as loudly as before.


I've looked for this issue, but didn't find any help. Do you have any suggestions on how to get these games to install? They all worked fine on my previous computer, and even WoW installed via the disc drive on this one.

Are you running on battery power or mains power when you are installing the software?

You might not have enough battery charge to finish the install...
