Please refer back to the original link provided in Post #2. There were several different things to try. You have only pointed to trying two. Perhaps one of the other suggestions will be your resolution.

I have tried the other things on your list. I still get the same error message.

Thanks for working through the suggestions; sorry they didn't resolve things for you.

I will PM the other techs and see if I can find someone with with more gaming experience to assist you further.

Your profile says that you are "Very Experienced", so I am going to assume that I can get a bit "techy" with you

Uninstall any codec packs on your system and download the latest CCCP beta release (http://www.cccp-project.net/beta/). Fallout 3 will then use FFDShow to render the audio. Some people have had crashing problems with FFDShow. Try the beta and the normal release. You can add Fallout3.exe to the exclusion list (open up the "FFDShow Audio Decoder Configuration" program, choose the "DirectShow control" option, and add Fallout3.exe to the "Don't use ffdshow in" field) to continue playing.

I'd be interested if you got this working, I am having the same issue, tried all the suggestions to no avail.

For those of us that came in late, what are these problems that everyone else is having with the game?

What problems are you having apart from it stopping working?

It it just buggy software, or is it that your hardware is not matching the recommended requirements?

Recommended System Requirements:

* Intel Core 2 Duo processor
* 2 GB System RAM
* NvidiaDirect X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI 3800 series)
