I was playing Dead Space fine a couple of days ago, then yesterday i installed Far Cry 2 and started playing that. The shadows looked terrible, and i thought it was the game until i opened DS and the same problem, although the shadows change between normal and wierd in DS. It seems worse in FC2 as they flicker alot, especially on characters.
I had to do a clean boot when i wanted to play DS but it was fine until after a defragment and install FC2. The defragment increased the fragmentation (i was using the pc at the time). Could these have caused the problem?

Thanks. Ive added my specs now. Last night i did a defrag (now 0.8% fragged) and tried FC2 again but it still had the crappy shadows.

One question I suppose.
Do you have NVIDIA control panel installed? If you do please use advanced options and configure the games independently from eachother.

The problem may lie with the particular graphics card you are using. What setting do you have the shadows set to? Also, make sure you have the latest graphics drivers installed.

Yeah i have Nvidia control panel. I will have a go with that. I have the latest drivers as well. I don't think the problem lies with the settings, as the shadows looked fine before. I have also noticed bad texture lines now as well that are white and look terrible when i move.
I tried using system restore to go back before i installed Far Cry 2 but it said it couldnt for some reason. I had some spyware in there. I also did the sfc/ scannow in run and had quite alot of problems that windows needed to fix. Thanks |

I tried a few different settings and nothing helped. This is getting very frustrating. Ive turned off shadows in FC2 because they are so bad.
