q6600, ati 4870x2, 6gb 800mhz ram, 1kw antec psu, gigabyte x48-ds4 motherboard - all this elite pwnage hardware and i struggle to get 15fps on flightsim x, it can handle far cry 2 smoothly though. my fsx has been patched to the latest service pack yet i still get horrible framerates, i have tried low option settings but the poor quality does not justify the 10fps rise, why does it run so bad? also im running on vista ultimate 64bit.

Have you tried running with older/newer graphics card drivers, it could be the drivers causing this. And you are right, it should have no problem as far as I can tell running that game.

No the thread wasn't closed Derekjerry. We apply the Open tag to new threads, so that they don't slip through the net. We can view a list of all the Open threads, and we know that they need attention

what windows are u running? if ur running vista try backwards compatibling it, if ur running xp, try a set of different video drivers..

not real sure on this but i think fsx was released before fc2... fsx may not have been optimized with the updated drivers.
