U need more ram, 1gig doesnt do anything these days to new games, considering windows uses 50% of what u got. ur processor is on the downside but it shouldnt be causing u serious issues like that...

2 reasons behind ur lagging sound... Drivers, or the simplication that ur computer is behind and is producing the sound last.

ur graphics card should be fine to run those games, its not top end but its a decent

and whats normal fps some say 30, i say 60-70... i notice the difference (eye only sees 32fps . blah blah ) call me superman then...

also turn off any vysn in ur game grapics options.

but with the system specs i dont expect high end quality graphics, u may push medium if that... but u should be able to play low settings with out issues...

People are saying that I need a new processor, but I've been looking at the quad cores, and they seem to only have the same if not worse speeds than mine. I have 2.8 GHz wtih my Intel Pentium D, and I have looked at the Intel Core 2 Quad Processor and it is only providing 2.3 to 3.0 GHz. What's the big difference between 2.8 and 3.0 GHz?

What you have to remember is all those extra cores give you a bunch of additional computing ability and they're great for multitasking.

Don't let the numbers fool you because for example if you have a single core processor that happens to be rated at 3.0Ghz then 3.0Ghz is what you have to work with. On the other hand if you happen to have for example a Q6600 Quad Core at stock speed you'd have 4 cores running at 2.4Ghz for a total of 9.6Ghz of computing ability which will whoop a single core 3.0Ghz any day.

Hope that makes it clearer.

PS: For what it's worth I run a fair number of machines with XP and I found that the sweet spot for RAM is 2GB and as a gamer you would definitely benefit from that.
