Default What laptop?

Hi, i am currently looking for a laptop under £400 that can play games such as spore
  • FOR WINDOWS XP
  • * 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  • * 512 MB RAM
  • * A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
  • * At least 6 GB of hard drive space
  • FOR WINDOWS VISTA
  • * 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  • * 768 MB RAM
  • * A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
  • At least 6 GB of hard drive space
and possibly battlefield heroes (if specs dont change too dramatically)
We're currently aiming for a minimum requirement of:
  • Operating System: Windows XP or Windows Vista
  • CPU: 1.0 GHz
  • RAM: 512 Mb (1Gb on Windows Vista)
  • Video Card: 64Mb DirectX compliant video card with at least pixel shader 2.0 support
  • Hard Drive space: 1Gb of space is required to install the game
  • Internet connection: 256kbit Cable/DSL connection
Keep in mind that this may change somewhat by the time we release Battlefield Heroes. Nevertheless we are aiming for wide availability; we don't think anyone should have a super computer to be able to play and have fun.

any advice i appreciated (i am prepared to buy secondhand aswell as new)

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.

Your list is very low rated.

You should be looking at:

Dual core CPU at least 2.0 ghz.
2 gig RAM.
120 gig hard drive.

Mostly more modern machines have Vista home premium installed.

Were would you plan to buy form?

Dont buy a netbook.

Check the links and see an average price for brand new and what specs are listed.

This should ensure you do not pay over the top for a laptop.

Check out Amazon Laptops

Buying second hand?I would not as they are pritty cheap these days to buy new.

Do not look at Tesco Tekinika ones they are rubbish.

When it comes to laptops I've had good success with Dell for what it's worth.

This appears to pass the listed specs and meets the price... Dell Studio 15 Laptop Details
