So what? I need a fan?

I just know what it could be. I need to know something for sure before I go out spending my money on something I may not need.

I turned my resolution and my graphics in Medieval 2: Total War to the lowest possible, the screen still went blank after a couple minutes.

I've already done that. I'll try it again to be sure it was the correct options...

How do I go about uninstalling my current video drivers? I heard you should uninstall the old ones first then update. Not sure why.

To uninstall your current video card drivers > go into Device Manager > Expand Display Adapters > Right click your graphics card > Click Properties
Select Driver tab > Click Uninstall

Have you checked the temp on the graphics card? If not download Speedfan from the link below to check it's not overheating.

Download SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

Also you can try running the game on just one core, I've used this as a workaround to get older games to play properly on 64bit. To do this start your game > ALT+TAB out > Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to get into Task Manager. Under processes select the games .exe > right click - select Set Affinity > Remove the tick from CPU 1 > Click OK. See if that helps. That only works as a once off - the next time you start the game it will use both cores again.

I installed new drivers which didn't help. I did the core thing except you said it will use both cores. My computer showed four cores; CPU 0,1,2,3. I just took off number 1.

I downloaded SpeedFan and while playing the game the temperatures seem to stay pretty general temperatures for playing a game.
