Hi and welcome to PCHF!

You will need to be more specific. Could you give us the exact specifications of both systems and what games you are trying to play on each.

Regards,
Adam

Also please include how much free space is on your HD, and his

Reason I say that is most games require FREE space, on which to swap files

Another reason for sluggish performance, can be alot of excess un-needed stuff in the background that's running, thus robbing your CPU of power

Also, not knowing your computer habits, this may apply, and it may not

When was the Last time you defragmented your Hard Drive

It's a good habit, to get into. I do mine twice a month, maintains top performance and speed. And after you've done it a few times, it only takes minutes

I visited a friend, and his son had a sluggish Pentium III in 98SE. When I asked him, when was the last time he Defraged the Disc? He looked at me like I was from Mars

My next question was, how long have you had the computer?
3 years

Well all computers are basically the same, in System Tools, is Disc Defragmenter.
Everything is automatic, just initiate, and leave it alone.
And Don't turn the power off.
This time it took 17 hours
Normally a 20 minute Job

Your Father has a slightly faster CPU. I dont know exactly the Graphics cards comparison but I'll look for some benchmarks. I think you have about the same graphics capability.

One thing I'd recommend is upgrading your RAM
512mb for gaming isn't a lot
To find out the maximum you can have, visit Crucial.com and click on "Scan My System"
IMPORTANT: The crucial scanner will not work in Firefox, so open it in Internet Explorer if you're not already using it
Or you can post your motherboard make & model (Ex. mine is Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro) here and I'll dig out that info for you

Recently released games tend to be quite large and take up anywhere between 2-8gb so if you are planning on having a lot of games installed at the same time i`d recommend a larger HD such as this one Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250310AS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
