Ok im hosting it from my pc, i have a router and firewall, but i hosted it and i can connect to my own server, it appears in the lan list (obviously as its the same pc)

But my mate can't find my server on the list he said it says server not responding, and the server name is my ip 192. something or other.

I used the source dedicated server in tools menu on steam, and i set it up fine, its just this problem.

Anyone?

Disable firewall, disable router firewall too :P Port forwarding for the game might help too.
I always disable firewalls when playing, they cause too much trouble

Obviously you don't have trouble connecting from the same pc as the firewalls don't apply on you

I know my software firewall/zonealarm isn't causing the conflict, but i did try port forwarding on my netgear router just now.

But like all of my friends are at college so im kinda stuck right now as i have no one to try it, im on break atm lol

Im quite experienced with srcds however not tried running one from home. The IP your friends need to connect will be found at Find My IP Address - Lookup and then add the port on the end. They wouldn't be able to connect via 192.etc unless they are on the local network. Also try PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall

Although I wouldn't recommend hosting a game server at home, the bullet reg will be very bad and with a few players on it will get very laggy. If you want a server I recommend renting one from a GSP.
