hey, i have ran the test on my memory and it its ran through 4 times and not found any errors. is it still worth buying a new stick of ram? i have 2 slots on my motherboard but have a 2gb stick in 1 slot which is the max for my motherboard. i read in the manual for the motherboard that it is recommended to have 2 sticks of 1gb, 1 in each slot, do you fink that could be the root of the problem?

Hey Diddy, thanks for that. In the meantime, I've found out that your thoughts were correct, you can only have 1gig in each slot. The only exception is if the memory is Aeneon. I'm quite suprised it accepted it at all. When you find your replacement, they should be 1gig DDR2, PC2-3200 or PC2-4300, Unbuffered, Non-ECC. Here is a compatibility list for that motherboard:
