I just baught the Final Fantasy XI yesterday, and tried to install it without success. I have Windows Vista (this is the PC version of the game) and when i double clicked on the installed game it said my system didnt support the software. I looked up the game online, and found that i had to install wondows vista compatability software before i could install the game disk. So, i did this and was able to get onto PlayOnline just fine. I registered on Playonline, and went through all the steps, except now when i try and install the game istself, it says its already installed, and when i try to click on it in Playonline it says its not installed. Whew! lol If anyone knows whats going on, please tell me whats happening as soon as possible i would love to get to play this game as soon as i can. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Have you tried checking your add/remove programs list to see if it listed as installed? (Start button -> control panel -> uninstall a program) If it is there or in your start menu, try uninstalling it. If it says something like, this program isn't here, would you like to remove the uninstall list entry? Click yes if that comes up. Then try reinstalling it.

If that doesn't work try uninstalling both the game and playonline, then reboot your computer, then run ccleaner (click my link to download, it's free). When you run ccleaner, make sure you run the junk file cleaner, and also click the issues button and run the registry cleaner. You can also try running registry mechanic. It costs $$$ but it is a much more thorough registry cleaner and is a great program to keep around and use with ccleaner to keep your computer in good health. When you're done cleaning out junk, try starting the whole install process over again.

Dont worry about this thread, i returned the game because it wasnt windows Vista compatable. I got Lord of the Rings Online instead.
