Default Some PC Games' internal clock running way too fast

When I play the following games on my PC:

Halo
Half LIfe 2
Counterstrike Source
Star Wars KNights of the Old Republic I & 2

The internal clock of the games runs WAAAAAY fast.I would be playing KOTOR and as I moved forward, the character would zip across the screen. I would be banned from Counterstrike servers for "speed hacking".

The following games I own work beautifully:

COD2
FEAR
Condemned - Criminal Origins

THe problem is that even though I'm getting perfect frames, FRAPS still reads like 17 fps...I'm not too concerned about that but it might be helpful information. Anyways, I'm not sure since this is my first post but this is my hardware:

I'm running Windows XP on:
ABIT NF-M2S mobo
Athlon x2 64 AMD Dual Core Processor 4800+
NVIDIA Geforce 7900 gt oc (overclock)
two 1gb DDR2 RAM chips
Maxtor Essentials 320 gb SATA Hard Drive

Now I've already researched this problem a lot and I've already tried the following:

- Re-installed my drivers for my Mobo, processor, and video card
- Downloaded and installed the Dual Core optimizer for my CPU
- Set the affinity of the running process (IE KOTOR II) while running to just one CPU instead of 2
- Downloaded and installed "CPU killer"; all it did was remain fast but still experienced lag.

Can any of you help me?

Default PC Games running too fast

I posted this question in the gaming section but no one has replied for a week, so I wanted to post it here:

- Downloaded and installed "CPU killer"; all it did was remain fast but still experienced lag.
- installed the game again and again...

Can any of you help me?

Hi welcome to the forum I have had a look around at your problem it seems to be relates to dual core processors. Did you try this MS patch Computers that are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and that are equipped with multiple processors that support processor power management features may experience decreased performance

Sounds like you already tried this Game performance may be poor on a Windows XP-based computer that is using a dual-core processor

Also try a bios update. Universal abit > Motherboard, Digital Speakers, iDome, AirPace, Multimedia

Doesn't this mean that a backgroundprogram is running which can be used to cheat at games? Maybe an other member knows more about it, though it could also be some kind of spyware. Therefor, please do the prework-link in my signature...a member of the securityteam will take a look at it!

Robin
