Default [Fixed] Problems uninstalling battle for middle earth 2

Hi Guys, I've been scouring the internet for about 2 days for a solution to my problem, have emailed EA tech support and not received a reply (judging by the number of complaints on their forums I don't expect to).

I recently bought BFME2 collectors edition, my system more than adequetely meets the requirements....after installing the game wouldn't load, it would get to the splash screen and then nothing would happen, opening task manager showed the program had stopped responding. I updated to patch version 1.06 & still nothing. I thought then it might be a problem with my dual core processor, so tried to set affinity to CPU0, unfortunately that didn't work as the game had already crashed by the time affinity was set.

So, I then decided to try uninstalling and reinstalling the game......

However, I am now left with the folder C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battle for middle-earth 2 and the file Game.Dat inside, which cannot be deleted. Every time i have tried an error message comes up saying the file cannot be deleted.

I thought regedit might help me, but the folder doesn't appear in my registry!!!

I thought perhaps reinstalling the game might sort it out, but no, now the game won't install at all......

It's really quite frustrating....when the game was first released I bought it and it worked perfectly on my old single core AMD 3200+, without the need for any updates. Now I have a new computer it refuses to work.....very very very annoying and frustrating...

Any tips on how to get rid of this file without having to format my hard drive?

cheers

Boot into Safe Mode (F8), then try to delete the file and folder.

Good Luck...
